Each year the Association of Former Students generously makes funds available to provide faculty and staff at Texas A&M University with a number of awards recognizing achievement in teaching, research, individual student relationships, continuing education/extension, graduate mentoring, staff, and administration. Receipt of an Association of Former Students Distinguished Achievement Award is one of the highest university honors that can be bestowed upon a faculty or staff member.

This year’s guidelines are attached to this email, and can also be found on the Office of the Dean of Faculties website at: http://dof.tamu.edu/Awards-and-Honors/AFS-Distinguished-Achievement-Award  
Please read the guidelines before submitting any names for consideration.  
Below is a list of important dates for the 2017-2018 Award Cycle:  

  • ·         November 30, 2017

    Selection committee names due to the Office of the Dean of Faculties by 5:00 p.m.

    ·         January 9, 2018

    Award nominations due to the Office of the Dean of Faculties by 5:00 p.m.

    ·         January 18, 2018

    Selection Committee meeting 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. **Attendance mandatory for all committee members**

    ·         March 1-2, 2018

    Colleges/Areas must notify award recipients. **No later than 5:00 p.m. on March 2, 2018**

    ·         March 5-9, 2018

    Recipient’s names released to the University community and news media.

    ·         April 2018

    Distinguished Achievement Awards Ceremony, Date TBD

All award documents (committee names, nomination packets, and coversheets - both electronic and hardcopy) should be sent to awardsprograms@tamu.edu
