SEARCH COMMITTEE TRAINING

Search training focuses on diversifying applicant pools, eliminating biases and missteps in the sorting and selection steps, and international faculty issues and will include plenty of opportunities to discuss questions and issues brought up by those in attendance.

Department heads, chairs of search committees, search committee members, and other faculty members are required to attend one of the training sessions. Although you may not have a search open at the present time, please remember that department heads, chairs of search committees, and search committee members are required to have the training prior to the beginning of the search and that the training is only valid for two years.

How does the content of STRIDE workshop differ from the content of DOF search committee training workshops?

Previously, faculty could meet the requirement by attending either a STRIDE workshop or a DOF search committee workshop.  Over time, the content of the two workshops started to converge.  So, a decision was made to merge the contents of the workshop into a single workshop.  Beginning this year (2019-2020), the DOF search committee training will be phased out, and STRIDE workshops will become the only workshops that will meet this requirement.
