African American Professional Organization

The Texas A&M University African American Professional Organization was formally established in 1992 to be a mechanism through which African Americans are fully recognized as contributing members of Texas A&M University and the community-at-large. The organization serves as a support and advocacy group for faculty, staff and students on concerns and issues at the University, local, state, and national level.

The purpose of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is "to facilitate a more effective cooperation among teachers and research scholars in universities and colleges... for the promotion of the interests of higher education and research, and in general to increase the usefulness and advance the standards, ideals, and welfare of the profession" (Article I, AAUP Constitution). Since its establishment in 1915, the AAUP has worked to give faculty and administrators guidelines on how to function ethically and effectively. Our major concerns are academic freedom, shared governance, and due process. The AAUP has also provided guidance in other areas, including professional ethics, research and teaching, discrimination, the faculty role in governing the university, and student rights and freedoms.

Christian Faculty Network

Friends of India Network

The Friends of India Network was established in 2003 to provide a forum for faculty and staff at Texas A&M University to foster awareness, within the academic community, of a range of issues and concerns relevant to India and Indian-Americans on the TAMU campus. The Network also seeks to enhance members' professional development opportunities through networking and informal mentoring of students, staff and faculty, and to facilitate communication with other interested individuals and organizations in the university and the local community. Membership is open to any interested staff or faculty member of Texas A&M University.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Professional Network

The purpose of the GLBT Professional Network is to encourage and support the professional development of its members through the development and enhancement of opportunities for networking, peer support, education and communication. Mexican American/Latino Faculty Association [Mentoring Partner]

The Mexican American and Latino faculty embrace Vision 2020's commitment to the diversification and globalization of Texas A&M University and proposes to actively advocate for its implementation. Mexican American and Latino faculty are of the opinion that one of the areas that must necessarily change if a climate of excellence is to exist at Texas A&M University is the presence of Mexican American and Latino faculty, not only in numbers but in voice. The recruitment, promotion and tenure of Mexican American/Latino faculty and the facilitation of their ability to pursue excellence in research and teaching is of critical importance to the University.
