Nominees for induction into the Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators must be full-time faculty members who work directly in the preparation of future teachers (excluding deans and department heads). Awardees are recognized and inducted during the annual meeting of the Chancellor's Century Council and receive a stipend, commemorative seal, and certificate.

The purpose of the Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators of The Texas A&M University System is to honor faculty members who have made significant impacts on the preparation of teachers. Past Academy inductees form the selection committee for new awardees. Academy members must have worked for the university for at least five consecutive years.

Current Guidelines

Selection Committee Makeup

A nominating committee will be developed on each campus consisting of deans and department heads from colleges/schools involved in teacher preparation and development. Once a cohort of nominees has been selected, existing Academy members will serve on the campus selection committee. Student representation is also encouraged on this committee. The committee will review the criteria, nomination materials and may interview candidates before making its recommendation to the university president or designee. The final recommendations go to the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs.
