  • Dea began her role in Faculty Affairs in 2015. Dea is responsible for assisting the partners of potential and existing faculty members find employment opportunities. She has placed hundreds of clients within Texas A&M as well as the Bryan/College Station community. The San Antonio native holds a B.A. from Angelo State University in Journalism with a Communications minor. Upon graduation from ASU she was the first African American Sports Reporter for KLST-TV in San Angelo, TX .
     
    Dea has over 20 years of expertise in Professional and Leadership Development, Training, Instruction and Facilitation within the private, state, non-profit and academic entities. She currently serves as the VP of Programs for the Brazos Valley Chapter Association for Talent Development, is a member of Brazos Valley Society for Human Resource Management, the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Academic Affairs Climate and Diversity Committee.
     
    Dea most recently facilitated Professional Etiquette and Image Building courses for Immigration Services for Faculty & Scholars, Flourish, and BLINN College. She is also a Volunteer for the Brazos Valley Food Bank’s Together We Grow Program. As a Volunteer she teaches participants interview skills, image awareness and communication skills. Ms. Polk also serves as a professional mentor and credits her many accomplishments to a strong spiritual foundation, great parents, a supportive family, teachers, and coaches. Dea feels her biggest achievement and blessing is being mother to her daughter Khaliah Cheyenne Gaines.
