The Southeastern Conference Academic Leadership Development Program (SEC ALDP) Alumni Fellowship is designed for SEC ALDP alumni who serve in senior leadership roles at SEC universities (i.e., their home institution). The aim of the fellowship is to provide these former fellows opportunities to further strengthen their leadership experience and enhance their knowledge in a specific area of interest to the fellow or the fellow’s home institution at another SEC university.

Eligibility

To qualify for the SEC Academic Leadership Development Program Alumni Fellowship, applicants must be/have:
  • Alumni of the SEC ALDP

  • Currently employed at an SEC university

Application/Selection Process

Each year, the SEC ALDP liaisons submit one alumni fellowship candidate from each of their universities to the SEC staff. Nominated candidates will be reviewed by all of the SEC ALDP liaisons who will then select up to two fellowship participants for the academic year.

To be considered for the fellowship, individuals must submit the following in one PDF file via email attachment to the Faculty Affairs Awards Program (AwardsPrograms@tamu.edu) by April 12, 2024.

  • Faculty Name
  • Faculty Title
  • College and Department
  • Faculty Email Address
  • Campus Mailing Address
  • Office Phone and Cell Phone Numbers
  • Curriculum Vitae (No more than 10 pages, Highlight administrative responsibilities)

Individuals must also submit statements addressing each of the following (200-500 words for each section):

  • Describe the nature and scope of the fellowship project;
  • How the fellowship project would benefit the fellow;
  • How the fellowship project would benefit the fellow’s home institution; and
  • Which SEC university or universities the fellow wishes to visit and why. Fellows should not contact the SEC university or universities they wish to visit. (Up to three SEC institutions may be visited but candidates should provide at least twice the number of universities to allow for alternate locations. The SEC ALDP liaisons will collaborate in determining final host universities for fellowship recipients.)

If selected, individuals will be asked to submit, for publicity purposes, a complete biographical sketch limited to 500 words and a current professional head shot (color; JPEG format; 300 dpi resolution and no less than 1500x2000 pixels).

Participation Expectations and Report

Fellowship recipients have one full academic year to complete their fellowship, beginning on July 1 and concluding no later than June 30 of the following year.

The final report topic is to be agreed upon by the fellowship recipient and their Provost as described in the application. The report is due no later than the first day of classes (after the fellowship concludes) at the home institution, as listed in the university academic calendar. The fellowship recipients should submit their reports to their home institutions’ SEC ALDP liaison, who will ensure it is delivered to the SEC, the host university and the Provost of the home institution.

Bursary

The Southeastern Conference will provide an award bursary of $2,500 to each fellowship recipient’s home institution (no more than two per year) to be used for travel, living or other expenses. Any additional costs will be borne by the fellow or the fellow’s home institution. All fellowship recipients will remain on salary at their home institutions.
